Dear Parents/Guardians,
The children are doing an excellent job adjusting to their new class. We are going to have a wonderful year of learning and fun. At this time I would like share with you my system for classroom management. At Pioneer Elementary we use programs designed to promote maximum student learning and to recognize students who are exhibiting positive behaviors. As you have probably already heard at Pioneer students ROAR. Meaning students are: Respectful, On Task, Always Safe, and Responsible. These behaviors are rewarded both school wide and in my classroom through awards, popcorn parties and other recognitions.
In my classroom students additionally strive to meet the five P’s, meaning they will be Positive, Persistent, Polite, Prepared and active Participants. I reward these behaviors in a variety of ways, through positive notes home, free choice time, and other learning rewards.
We also use a number system to regulate the voice level in the classroom. Level 0 is no talking, Level 1 is whispering, Level 2 is quiet talking and so on.
When students disrespect others, break rules or speak louder than the voice level they are asked to “turn a card”. All students start each day with a “perfect green.” The first card is a warning yellow, the second time they turn to red and lose 5 minutes of their recess and during that time they write about their mistake, if they make a third mistake in one day they lose all recesses and must call home. Each child will have days that do not go as well as he or she hoped. A call home is not serious but gives you the opportunity to discuss your child’s day with him or her. Additionally if a student is having an excellent day they will be able to turn their card back and can reach blue which is a recognition of excellence in behavior in my classroom, if you see your student is earning many blues please take the time to recognize their accomplishment.
I have sent home a survey with your student to help me get to know and understand your child better. Please fill it out and return it to school with your child if you have not already. Feel free to add any additional information that you feel would help me be a better teacher for your child.
I welcome parent volunteers and visitors in my classroom and love the opportunity for you to learn more about your child’s education and to meet you to get to know you and your student more thoroughly. Feel free to make an appointment to meet with me before school from 7:30-8:15 or afterschool from 3:00-3:15. Estimados Padres/ Guardianes,
Los niños/as están haciendo un trabajo excelente en ajustándose a su nueva clase. Nosotros vamos a tener un año maravilloso de aprendizaje y diversión. A este tiempo me gustaría compartir con usted mi sistema de manejamiento el salón. En la Elemental de Pioneer usamos programa designados en promover a los estudiantes el aprendizaje máximo y reconocer el estudiante quienes están exhibiendo un comportamiento positivo. A como usted probablemente y a escuchado que los estudiantes de Pioneer ROAR. Que significan que los estudiantes son: Respetuosos, Enfoscarse, Siempre seguro, y Responsable. Estos comportamientos son recompensados en toda la escuela y en mi salón durante premios, fiesta de palomitas y otros reconocimientos.
En mi salón los estudiantes tratan de esforzarse en tener las cinco P’s que significan que ellos van hacer Positivos, Persistentes, Polite (cortes) Preparado, y un Participante activo. Yo les doy recompensa a estos comportamientos en una manera variada, durante notas positivas a casa, tiempo libre, y otras maneras de aprendizaje.
Nosotros usamos el sistema de números para regular el nivel de voz en el salón. El nivel 0 es para no hablar, nivel 1, es hablar suave, nivel 2 es hablar callada/o
Cuando los estudiantes faltan de respeto a otros, quiebran la regla o hablan en voz alta el nivel que ellos se les dicen que volteen la tarjeta. Todos los estudiantes comienzan con una “tarjeta verde:” la primera tarjeta es una advertencia amarilla, la segunda vez si tienen una tarjeta roja pierden 5 minutos de su recreo durante ese tiempo ellos escriben acerca de su error, si ellos hacer un tercer error en un solo día ellos pierden todos los recreos y deben de habla a casa no serio pero le da a usted la oportunidad de discutir el día de su hijo/a con el/ella. En adición si el estudiantes esta teniendo un día excelente ellos puede darle vuelta la tarjeta y pueden alcanzar un punto azul en la cual se reconoce la excelencia en su comportamiento en mi salón, si usted mira que le estudiante alcanzado muchos puntos azules favor de toma el tiempo para reconocerle su logro.
Yo he enviado a casa un cuestionario con su hijo/a para ayudarme en llegar a conocer y entender a su hijo/a. por favor rellenar y regresar a la escuela con su hijo/a si usted todavía no lo ha hecho. Siéntase libre de poner cualquier información adicional que usted sienta que me ayudaría en se mejor maestra para su niño/a.
